Meet Tamara

Tamara Dunn

Sound Healer, Reiki Practitioner & Yoga Teacher

Growing up, I was always into weight lifting. Since I can remember, I was getting up early to hit the gym. Despite the countless years I spent doing this, my time in the gym never felt truly nourishing. Sure, it provided results, but my mind and soul were never fulfilled.

One day, I felt a strong pull to try yoga. From my very first class, I was obsessed-not just to the physical challenge of using muscles I’d never accessed before, but it helped me tune into my body, mind, and spirit in a way that nothing else ever had. After a few years of practicing yoga, I decided to travel to Bali to complete my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and to this day, it’s still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I completely fell in love with learning about the body and how it responds to intentional movement and nourishment.

That’s where my deeper spiritual journey began. I started researching sound healing and its effects on the mind and body. The research convinced me to give it a try, so I participated in my first virtual sound bath. I had never done anything like it before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect-but the experience was profound. A few months later I went on to become certified in sound healing!

Reiki entered my life during a period of emotional heaviness. I remember experiencing energy work for the first time and feeling a wave of release and clarity I’d never accessed before. That moment showed me how powerful energy healing can be and it felt like the next step to integrating all these healing practices into one cohesive offering.

What began as a personal journey evolved into a calling to hold space, guide, and support others in their own healing process.

That’s why I created Solaya Wellness—to share the transformational power of these practices. I want to show others that spiritual and holistic wellness aren't just checkboxes on a to-do list. It's a deeply personal journey. It’s about exploring different modalities and finding what truly resonates with you.

Animal Lover

Social Worker

Travel Addict

Since I was a young girl, I’ve been completely obsessed with animals. Every. Single. One. From ant to elephant, I adored them all. That childlike wonder  has never faded- if anything, it’s grown deeper with time.

As I got older and began learning more about how animals are treated in the world, my love turned into a deep commitment. I chose a vegan lifestyle in 2018, because I couldn’t stand the disconnect between my love for animals and the way they’re treated in the world.

Animals remind me how to be present, how to love unconditionally, and how to connect without words. My love for them, and all being is woven into everything I so and everything I am.

As a teenager, I was deeply impacted by the support I received from my school counsellors, and I knew I wanted to one day offer that same kind of guidance to others. One of my counsellors actually encouraged me to pursue social work to expand my scope of practice and create more opportunities to support others - so I did just that.

Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, from addiction recovery and diverse ability support to schools where I get to work directly with students of all ages. No matter the role, my passion for supporting youth has remained at the heart of it all.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to weave my love for yoga and mindfulness into my work. I currently facilitate a weekly yoga club for my students - a space where they can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment.

I’m absolutely addicted to travel - there’s just something about stepping into a new place, experiencing different cultures and connecting with people from all walks of life that lights me up in a way nothing else does.

Travel, for me, is about learning, growing and discovering more of who I am. It opens my heart, shifts my perspective, and reminds me how big, beautiful, and diverse the world really is.

My ultimate dream is to one day travel the world - to see it all, taste it all, and keep learning every step of the way.
